Sampleite, E26 Orebody, North Parkes Mine, Parkes, NSW
SKU: 411
Size 4.5cm x 2.5cm
A smaller speciman with bright blue sampleite and darker green libethenite. Sampleite was discovered at this mine in the mid 1990's and at that stage was one of the very few places in the world where it made cabinet sized specimans. The waste dump that this material was dumped on, was eventually completely covered and rehabilitated.
The mineral was never encountered again at this mine, after that first initial discovery. Mindat lists this mine as having world class or very significant specimens for the species. Back has been cut to rid excess waste rock.
