Kidwellite, Iron Monarch Quarry, Iron Knob, SA
SKU: 262
Size 6cm x 5cm
Pale yellow fibrous balls of Kidwellite covering most sides of a piece of hematite ore. There is also scattered crystals of brighter yellow cyrilovite as seen in the centre left of first photo. When kidwellite was first identified from iron monarch in 1983, it was only the second locality in the world where it had been found. Kidwellite was only found in two areas of the iron monarch pit, both mined out by the mid 1980's. A good speciman of one of the rarer phosphate minerals from here.
