Nice botryoidal formation of cryptomelane on matrix. These style of specimans do not show a needly fibrous form on broken surfaces, so are not goethite as previously thought. They also do not show concentric layers like the lithiophorite/ cryptomelane specimans, so are most probably straight cryptomelane. Base has been sawn to enable better display, but saw cut is not visible from display side.From the same pocket as the stalactites that were found in this mine. mine now closed and backfilled with waste.
